San Joaquin Basin - 2011
Main content start
The Stanford University Basin and Petroleum System Modeling Industrial Affiliates 2011 field trip traveled to the western San Joaquin Basin, California, and investigated the Kreyenhagen-Temblor(!) and essential elements of other petroleum systems. Due to geologically recent uplift and erosion, all elements of that petroleum system are exposed. We explored the area where three oil types migrate from the Buttonwillow deep to the Coalinga field. The farthest south field, Kettleman North Dome is first followed by Guijarral Hills, Pleasant Valley, East Coalinga Extension and ends with the Coalinga field. Jacalitos and Kreyenhagen fields are on this migration path to Coalinga.
