Conferences 2018
BPSM staff and students attended a variety of conferences around the world. Here are some highlights of just a few of them.
Zachary F. Burton attended the AAPG Annual Conference and Exhibit in Salt Lake City, UT, May 20-23, 2018. He spoke on "Advanced Geochemical Technologies Determine Source-Rock Depositional Environment, Crude Oil Thermal Maturity and the Extent of Oil Cracking in the Frontier Pegasus Basin, New Zealand" with publication authors also including J. Michael Moldowan, Allegra Hosford Scheirer, and Stephan Graham.
William Thompson-Butler was also at the AAPG Annual Conference and Exhibit, presenting his paper, "Chemometric Identification of Geochemically Distinct Oil Tribes as a Tool to Advance Understanding of the Petroleum Systems in the Middle Magdalena Valley, Colombia", with co-authors Kenneth E. Peters, J. Michael Moldowan, Leslie B. Magoon, Allegra Hosford Scheirer, and Stephan Graham.
Tanvi Chedda presented at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Machine Learning Workshop in Rio de Janeiro, May 2018, as well as at the EAGE Annual Meeting in Copenhagen in June.
Over the past year, Laura Dafov found time for the GRC Hydrates Conference in Galveston TX, the PS AAPG Imperial Barrel Competition, a Stanford poster presentation, a Stanford Global Energy Forum (with Zach Burton), the AAPG Leadership Summit in Bakersfield (with Tanvi Chedda), mentoring a SURGE intern, and more!
