The fifth annual Stanford University Basin and Petroleum System Modeling Industrial Affiliates Conference was held on Wednesday and Thursday, November 28 and 29, 2012. The meeting took place in the Cypress Conference Room of Tresidder Memorial Union on the beautiful Stanford University campus. On Wednesday, Stanford graduate students and several BPSM Principal Scientists presented talks on their basin and petroleum system modeling research. The following day (Thursday) featured a field trip to investigate the petroleum system of the Santa Cruz County coast. Throughout the day we discussed the impact of the San Gregorio-Hosgri Fault on migration, uplift and breaching of traps, and the juxtaposition of depocenters and structural highs.
