Chemical kinetic models

My research involves the development of chemical kinetic models for subsurface processes, particularly the thermal transformation of organic matter over geologic time.  I have developed methods of chemical kinetic analysis, compositional models of oil and gas, chemically based vitrinite reflectance models, and the role of organic transformation and expulsion on rock mechanics.  The first improved vitrinite reflectance model, Easy%RoDL, was based on increasing the bend in the reflectance versus depth profile using well-constrained data from Alaska’s North Slope.  Subsequently, vitrinite and bitumen reflectance models were refined based on recent improvements of Vitrimat, and its derivative models Easy%RoV and Easy%RoB.  The improved models work better at both laboratory and geological conditions.
